What we do
Fundraising Assessments
F+H Partners provides fundraising assessments and planning so organizations can build effective, customized programs. Our discovery process aims to deeply understand internal operations, development structures, and leadership perspectives through confidential interviews. This informs data-driven recommendations.
We take an action-oriented, collaborative approach - working hand-in-hand with your team to target key capacities needed to expand fundraising. Our engagement typically contains two phases: Phase 1 evaluates current operations, builds the prospect pool, and creates a roadmap identifying staffing and infrastructure needs. Phase 2 conducts training, completes portfolio assignments, and assists with rollout.
Ultimately, we deliver strategic, customized recommendations on:
- Multi-year fundraising strategies connected to goals
- Development best practices
- Organizational and staffing models
- Process refinement opportunities
- Prospect pool analysis by capacity, propensity, and affinity
- Prospect management guidelines
The result is a targeted plan equipping you to maximize fundraising's effectiveness and impact.
How the engagement runs
-
Read the record
We start with the documents: plans, appeals, gift data, grant files, board minutes, and budgets. The record tells us what the program actually does, which is not always what the program says it does.
-
Listen to the people
We interview staff, board members, and, where appropriate, key donors. A partner conducts every conversation personally. People tell us things they will not put in a survey, and those things usually matter most.
-
Test what we hear
We hold the interviews up against the data and the observable practice. Where the story and the numbers disagree, we dig until we know why. Findings that have not been tested are opinions, and we do not deliver opinions.
-
Deliver the plan
You receive a written assessment and a prioritized plan, presented in person to leadership and, when you want it, to the board. We sequence the recommendations so your team knows what to do first, not just what to do.
What you receive
- A written assessment of your full development program
- Analysis of your gift data against organizations of your size
- Prioritized recommendations, sequenced and ready to act on
- An in-person presentation to leadership
- A board presentation, when you want one
Who does the work
Partners do this work themselves. We read the documents, conduct the interviews, and write the findings. Nothing is delegated to junior staff, because the judgment is the product. Most assessments run eight to twelve weeks, with check-ins along the way so nothing in the final report is a surprise.
How fees work
A fixed fee, scoped at the outset after a conversation about your size and complexity. You know the full cost before we begin, and it does not change unless the scope does, by mutual agreement.
Senior consultants stay in the room from kickoff through implementation.
